Most sourcing losses on paper food packaging do not come from price. They come from a supplier who cannot document what was agreed. This page sets out six checks an overseas buyer can run before paying a deposit to any Chinese paper packaging supplier, and it states plainly where BECOPACK stands on each. Specifications and commercial terms are confirmed in the quotation and the approved sample.
Check 1 — a real catalogue with model codes
A supplier that publishes capacity, top, base and height for every model is a supplier with a working internal spec sheet. A photo gallery with no codes is not a catalogue. Ask for the model code for the exact box you want; "the large one" cannot be priced, sampled or reordered.
BECOPACK publishes 178 models across five families, each with a reference such as BC-SB-20 or BC-KB-1200.
Check 2 — the lid is specified per container
Lids are the most common source of mismatch, because a lid fits a top dimension, not a capacity. A supplier who says "lids available" without a per-model reference has not resolved this. Ask which lid fits which model, and whether the lid is paper, PET or PP.
Check 3 — a defined sample process
A serious supplier names what the sample approval covers. Ours reconfirms six lines before production: model reference, dimensions, lid fit, material structure, printing artwork and carton specification. If a supplier cannot describe their approval step, assume there is none.
Check 4 — certifications you can inspect
"Food grade" is a claim; a certificate is evidence. Ask for the standard name and the scope it covers — ISO 9001, BRC and SEDEX are production standards; FDA food-grade compliance, FSC paper and SGS testing cover material and food-contact questions. BECOPACK holds these, and provides the documents on request.
Check 5 — packing data per model
Pieces per carton changes freight per unit more than unit price does. Ask for it per model, in writing, and compare carton dimensions before you compare container loading.
Check 6 — who actually answers
Test it before you order: send one complete inquiry — model, quantity, lid, board, print status, destination market — and time the reply. The response quality on that first email is the best predictor of the response quality after the deposit.
A complete first inquiry
Model references, quantity per model, lid and board preference, print status, packing preference and destination market. Send that to ben@becopack.com (WhatsApp +86 151 7861 3502) and we reply within 24 hours on business days with availability, sample timing and pricing. See the catalogue models behind these checks.
