A wholesale lunch box order is quoted per carton line, not per unit. That single fact decides how you plan freight, storage and reorder points — and it is the first thing to confirm when comparing suppliers. Quote in carton lines
Ask for the pieces-per-carton for every model in the order before you compare prices. Two suppliers quoting "the same" 900 ml box can differ in carton count by a factor, which changes storage volume and per-piece freight more than the unit price does. A mixed load of 500 ml and 2100 ml cartons will not stack evenly unless you plan the pallet by carton height, not by piece count.
What to fix before production
Four lines decide whether the reorder matches the first shipment:
- Board: white or kraft. Kraft shifts printed colours warmer, so approve print on kraft stock, not on a white proof.
- Coating: chosen by the food. State whether the box carries a dry bakery item or a hot, saucy meal.
- Printing: front panel, gussets and lid are separate print areas; confirm which panels carry artwork.
- Packing: carton configuration and count per carton, confirmed against the approved sample.
Reorder discipline
Wholesale buyers who reorder the same box quarterly should lock the specification as a written line item — model, board, coating, print and carton count — and attach it to every repeat order. It removes the most common cause of a second shipment that does not match the first.
