White vs Kraft Board: Choosing the Board Colour for Paper Food Packaging
Where white board and kraft board differ in print, presentation and perception — with the BECOPACK series that offer both options.
Board colour is a presentation decision before it is a cost decision. White board prints brighter colours and presents a cleaner, modern look; kraft board prints with a natural, crafted feel and reads as an earth-friendly choice. Several BECOPACK series are available in both, so the choice stays with your brand. Specifications are indicative and subject to final written confirmation; this guide is for selection, not quotation.
The two board options
- White board: brighter print reproduction and higher contrast for brand colours — the standard choice for chains and brands where the pack is a colour-managed surface.
- Kraft board (natural brown): a warm, natural look with lower print coverage — the choice for street food, bakeries and brands that want the packaging to read as unbleached and natural.
Series available in both
Series | White | Kraft | Example models |
|---|---|---|---|
Noodle boxes, square bottom (SNB) | ✓ | ✓ | SNB8 – SNB32 |
Noodle boxes, round bottom (RNB) | ✓ | ✓ | RNB8 – RNB32 |
Window sandwich boxes (SW) | ✓ | ✓ | SW-26 – SW-82 |
Slanted cups (SC) | ✓ | ✓ | SC8 – SC20 |
For corrugated burger boxes (HBC), the variable is the coating — PE or PP options — matched to the application rather than the board colour.
How to choose
Match the board to where the pack is seen. Counter service and branded chains lean white for colour accuracy; delivery and street food often choose kraft for the natural look and simpler print. If the pack carries heavy printing, confirm the artwork on the actual board before production — the same design prints differently on white and kraft. Quote the model reference and state the board choice in the inquiry.
