Air Fryer Paper Liners: A Six-Point Spec Checklist for Retail and Food-Service Buyers

Decide the six liner specification lines before you spend sampling budget.

Specifying air fryer paper liners for retail is a sourcing decision, and the fastest way to lose weeks is to request samples before the specification exists. This checklist is for importers, distributors, category buyers and private-label brands who brief suppliers on pleated or flat parchment liners and need quotes they can compare line by line. It is not a home-cooking guide, and it does not replace testing: heat and release performance must be confirmed for the specific paper grade against your food and your appliance mix. BECO manufactures silicone-coated baking and greaseproof papers in Hangzhou, including pleated and perforated air fryer liners; this page reflects the six specification lines that decide whether an assortment works. Work through them once, record one answer per line, and you leave with a one-page sampling brief. No quotation is requested or implied here; sampling decisions stay yours.

Where liner sourcing actually slows down

Six lines tell the usual story:
  1. A category or sourcing manager owns the liner assortment and has to approve a specification before any sample is requested.
  1. The trigger is routine: a new liner item or a private-label line enters planning, and sampling starts.
  1. The missing evidence is a written specification, because quotes arrive pleated, flat, perforated, in different grammages and with different heat claims that cannot be compared as received.
  1. Each undecided line can then turn into another round of clarification emails, re-quoted samples and packing questions before a shortlist exists.
  1. A programme planned against a season window may lose that window to repeat sampling alone.
  1. The decision this page owns is narrow: complete the six-line specification check below before spending sampling budget.

The six-point air fryer paper liner specification checklist

Six lines separate a comparable quote from a guess. Work top to bottom; a line left open is the one most likely to come back as another sampling round.

1. Liner design: pleated, flat perforated, or flat solid

Pleated wall liners follow the basket contour and hold food above drippings. Flat perforated sheets prioritise airflow under the food, which supports crisping but lets grease and liquids pass through. Flat solid sheets do the opposite. So the first fork is deliberate: decide liner design by dominant food type first, then by format and price — perforated liners specified for saucy or soft foods are the combination public testing warns against most consistently.
Record: design choice, plus the main food types it must serve.

2. Size fit: the first disqualifier

Common diameters run 6.3, 7.5, 8 and 9 inches, with square, rectangular and custom shapes available on request. A size mismatch disqualifies a liner before price or grammage are discussed, so establish which basket and tray diameters dominate your target market, and whether one size must serve both retail packs and food-service trays.
Record: size or size range, shapes, target appliance mix.

3. Grammage: 36–60 gsm and what it trades

Working options sit between 36 and 60 gsm. Lower grammages pack flat and keep freight weight down; higher grammages resist tearing under load and hold a pleat through packing. The right point is confirmed on samples, not on a data sheet.
Record: target gsm or accepted range.

4. Coating and the heat limit

Specify silicone-coated food-grade paper, white or natural. Treat the heat limit as a grade property: a quoted temperature belongs to the tested grade, not to liner paper as a family. BECO's liner grades are specified to 220 °C, subject to grade and test; ask any supplier for the test behind the number before it reaches your artwork or listing.
Record: single- or double-side silicone, white or natural, target temperature with its test basis.

5. Food-contact documentation

Base paper and silicone system both need food-contact coverage for your target market. What a supplier can document is part of the specification, not an afterthought — documentation gaps tend to surface after the packing is already designed.
Record: required documents per target market.

6. Retail pack and count

A retail liner is a packed product, not just paper. Pleated liners stack; pack format — poly bag, colour box, dispenser-style carton, or bulk carton for food service — and count per pack decide shelf fit and unit economics. A specification without pack format and count is not a retail-ready specification.
Record: pack format, count per pack, carton configuration.

What a specification can and cannot prove

Three boundaries keep the checklist honest:
  • A specification shortlists suppliers; it does not prove performance. Release, stiffness and heat behaviour are confirmed on samples of the actual grade, in baskets like yours.
  • Perforation trades leak control for airflow — the trade-off public testing documents most clearly. If your range is saucy or soft, weigh that evidence before choosing perforation.
  • Never list a maximum temperature without the grade and test behind it — in your own listings as well as supplier quotes.
None of this argues against air fryer liners as a category. It defines where paper specifications stop and product testing starts.

From checklist to sampling brief

Completed, this page produces one artefact: six written lines — design, size, grammage, coating and heat limit, compliance documents, pack format and count. That one page is your sampling brief, and one written answer per line, recorded before any sample is requested, is what makes supplier quotes comparable. When responses arrive, compare them line by line against the brief rather than by brochure or unit price; the lines that still disagree are your next questions, not a reason to restart. If you also buy baking paper for ovens and trays, the same discipline carries over — the baking paper selection guide for food-service and bakery production covers the oven-side variables. And to see which paper formats exist beyond liners, browse the paper formats catalogue and match each format to your six lines.
